Last week I managed to make it until Thursday afternoon before running out of gas. This week I made it to Friday morning and I still had the hike and three classes in the afternoon. I was feeling it midway through circuit training and one of the other guests yelled she feels like it is frantic Friday. This was exactly the way I felt and I'm kinda glad someone mentioned it.
Today's hike was called Ocean View and as you can imagine, we had a view of the ocean. Actually, most of the hikes are overlooking the ocean, so they are technically "ocean view" hikes, but this one is properly named Ocean View.
This is a valley hike similar to Castro's Crest. We start by going down to a valley, then climb the hill, come back down to the valley, then go back up to the van. It is a lot tougher in real life. The Ocean View hill is steeper than Zuma, but it doesn't last as long.
To be honest, I was disappointed with the view. I thought a hike called Ocean View would have plenty of good views of the ocean, but it really didn't. The ocean was always visible, but there were other hills in the way.
I took a video when I was mostly up the hill so you can see what it's like. According to the guide, the house in the video will probably be worth $5 Million when it is finished.
The afternoon classes were something in the pool, circuit training, then Cardio Disco. By the way, if you visit youtube and search for "cardio disco jam football" you can see a video of football players in the cardio disco class. This may not sound good yet, but let me explain.
The fitness manager here named John (of course) worked at the BLR facility in Utah. Some time during his tenure in Utah, some NFL teams sent their players there. So the video is of NFL lineman doing the cardio disco class. When you complete the search, a number of videos will come up. Look for the subtitle Biggest Loser Resort.
It has been quite a week and I only got one new blister from Zuma yesterday. Accomplishments this week include hiking Castro's Crest, Zuma Ridge, and Ocean View three days in a row. My cardiovascular system has improved since the first day which allows me to do better on the hikes. During treading I maxed out the resistance on the arc trainer, which I would not have even considered doing before I got here. Overall I was able to do better than last week in the classes and on the hikes. Oh, and I can't forget the double play by myself during kickball.
Closing thought for the day: Week three was tough. In the beginning of the program, the body is in shock and I'm passed that now so I have to keep picking up the intensity to get results. I pushed the intensity all week and now it is time to recover and get ready for next week.

ReplyDeleteThis is SO impressive! The fact that you put yourself through all of this and still have enough energy to make it to Friday! Just imagine the energy you will have by the end of this!
Keep it up!
