Read my lips - No new blisters!!

I can tell you that the adjustments made to my shoes yesterday paid off today.  I did not have a single new blister!!  This morning I was in the gym before breakfast to warm up my body and stretch before the hike, and someone else was in there with the local news on the television.

The weather report does not look good for this week.  Last week I was getting sunburned and this week it will be cold and rainy.  I found this disappointing because hiking in the cold weather is tough on the lungs. This morning's hike was at Malibu Creek, which is mostly flat, but the cold weather just took the breath out of my lungs.

I know that I can't control the weather, but I have seen progress every week and was looking forward to seeing more progress this week.  It looks like I'll have to take a step back this week due to the weather.  Also, when it rains I will take it extra slow because I'm not an experienced hiker and do not want an injury.

As you read from yesterday's post, I would like to focus more on the food and the afternoon classes.  Well, the scenery from this morning's hike was outstanding, so today's post will mostly focus on the hike.

Malibu Creek is where they filmed the original Planet of the Apes movie and the television show Mash.  A few years ago the set for Mash burned down and now there's nothing left.

I mentioned above that the hiking trail today was mostly flat, but there were big hills all around.  To summarize it, the scenery was breathtaking and I spent most of my time enjoying it.  Here's a couple of pictures and a short movie.

Later in the hike we got to the pond featured in the Planet of the Apes movie and it was tough to get pictures from the hiking trail due to the trees.  From what I understand the movie was filmed at the other side of the pond.  I also took a picture of the rock formations.  Does anyone recognize this from the movie?

It was a fantastic way to start week four and tonight I'll watch the Baylor women's basketball game.

Closing thought for the day:  I can't let the upcoming weather get me down.  I'll have to hike at my own pace and if I'm not getting enough of a calorie burn, then I'll have to increase the intensity in the afternoon classes.

  1. That last picture looks like a face in the rocks. Like the face statues on Easter Island.

FYI I received the processor from Crestron. We are ready to rock when you get back. Meeting your Mom and repair company tomorrow.

    Good luck, have some fun!
