King Gillette Ranch experience

Does anyone recognize the title King Gillette Ranch?  If so, it means that you know a lot about the Biggest Loser show because this is where the show is filmed.  It is a California state park and is open to the public on what is referred to as "dark days," which are days the crew is not filming the show.

I learned that every Sunday is a dark day and those of us at the BLR are off on Sundays as well.  So, today three of us decided to make a trip to the ranch because it is only about 6 miles away.  In the end, it exceeded all of my expectations.

We arrived in the morning and were the only people on the ranch aside from the security guard.  He told us where we could go and where we couldn't go.  He was a nice man, but still protective of the contestants and the show.  The only places to really see are the gym, the housing area, and the building where the elimination room is located.  We could not go inside any of the building and had to stay on the main trail.

Due to the set up of the show, they are 12 weeks ahead of the episodes that are shown on tv.  Therefore, this is all I'm going to say about my experience.  After season 11 is over, I will be able to talk in detail about who I met.  Don't ask me questions on who I saw or how many contestants I saw because I'm not going to answer until after season 11 is over.

Let's start with pictures of the famous gym.

The housing area was hidden well with fencing and trees, but got as close as I could for these pictures.  Inside the fence is the swimming pool and at the back are the doors to the housing building that are shown constantly on the show.

The picture below is the admin building and the elimination room is on the second story on this end of the building.

Closing though for the day:  The Biggest Loser television show is one of America's most popular shows and I can't believe that today I had the opportunity to go to the BL ranch.  It was inspiring to see some of the contestants and their progress knowing that I am going through the same process they are.
